GET A BEHIND-THE-SCENES VIEW OF HOW A PAPER IS PREPARED AND PRINTED...

How is the information processed... from the source to the newsstands? How are the roles distributed? How do the men and women take up the technological challenge every day and every night to bring you the news?

On the programme:

La Dépêche du Midi opens its doors so you can see what lies behind it all.

From one workshop to the next, in nine steps you will discover how the newspaper is made:
  • Museum Area (history of the newspaper since it was founded in 1870)
  • Newsroom: the different sections, information processing
  • Desktop Publishing workshop: integrating the photos and ads
  • Offset Plates workshop: CTP (Computer-to-Plate) technology
  • Printing Press hall: 2 rotary printing presses, 23 papers printed each second
  • Paper Unwinder and Stock: the “Paper Cathedral” feeding the printing presses
  • Dispatch Room: bundling and dispatching the papers
  • Dispatch Platform: 17,000 km covered each night / 3,700 sales outlets
