Know more

This visit offers you a unique chance to preview the largest worksite of Occitania’s capital city, merely a stone’s throw from the Aeroscopia aviation museum, right next to Toulouse-Blagnac international airport and the Airbus and ATR sites. We begin with a conference-style presentation at the worksite’s base camp: what were the motivations behind this major construction site? The development of the city? Its commitment to the research sector? The need for infrastructure that is coherent with the needs of one of the most dynamic cities in France?

Larger, more modern and more modular than the Exhibition Centre of Le Ramier currently in use, MEETT stands out thanks to its versatility, its functionality and its sustainability. By the way, do you know what will become of the existing exhibition centre? MEETT also stands out thanks to its design: the project was created by an architectural agency, lead by a Pritzker prize-winning starchitect.

The partners of the Toulouse Exhibition and Convention Centre are numerous: the region, the department, the general contractor, the future operator, and the major investors. The construction site is the source of some impressive figures with regards to job creation and activity. It is now time to put on your safety boots and hard hat in order to explore the main features of the Exhibition Centre: the construction of the three main buildings, the extension of expressways, as well as the tramway line.

The general contractor wanted the new Exhibition Centre to be both functional and iconic, yet fully integrated into the environment whilst being remarkable in terms of architecture and of quality of implementation. Technologically advanced and versatile infrastructure was deemed desirable. All around the immense outdoor exhibition area, explore the great Exhibition Hall, its three-dimensional roof structure, and imagine what major events may be held here. Walk down the main street, crowned by five-storey carpark and access the Convention Hall and its modular areas, used for shows, conferences, conventions, sport events or concerts… See how the aesthetics of the building are in harmony with the neighbouring industrial site. How were these innovative building materials chosen? The new Congress – Convention functionality will allow major professional gatherings of over 1,200 participants: something that Toulouse is unable to provide at the present time due to a lack of adequate infrastructure.

This is why the construction of the Exhibition and Convention Centre is accompanied by the development of an economic centre. Take in the panorama of the surroundings from a viewing area: a luxury hotel complex is being readied to welcome conventioneers and exhibitors, a business village will house working spaces and offices. The entire site will be protected by a station for emergency services. The major changes made to the local road network with the creation of the Exhibition Centre are impossible to miss: the site will be easily accessible by private vehicles and by public transport. The tramway line has been extended in order to give direct access to the site.

This new site, creating both jobs and activity, is carried out with the utmost respect of the environment. Beyond even the site itself, designed with the smallest possible footprint, environmental commitments have been made in order to obtain French and international certifications. Very soon, the Exhibition and Convention Centre will add a new dimension to Greater Toulouse: a major event will be announced soon… Please note that the visit lasts between last 1h30 and 2h and requires a lot of walking over sometimes unpaved terrain. For safety reasons, the site is not accessible to children under the age of 6 and persons with disabilities.
